2 young boys that I have the pleasure of giving haircuts to call me Uncle Jon, and I was reflecting on how blessed I am to be given their trust. Their haircuts aren't easy as they talk and move a lot, so a lot of patience is essential. Their dad is a good dad, raising them with good values. Coming into the shop today was challenging - my phone was broken after I dropped it in water, and I wasn't able to contact barbers or my appointments. While these seemed like big problems, they are really insignificant in the full spectrum of life. We are here to serve, and if you want help, learn to help others without selfish gain and treat each other with respect, and then change will appear one haircut at a time.

March 27th is the date, 7pm the time, ideas and forward thinkers coming together. This all started when I was traveling around the country and I got coffee in a small town in Clinton, Oklahoma. The coffee shop had a cool vibe that was different from the rest of the town. While I was in line to order coffee, a man in front of me was wearing vintage clothing and had a gold tooth. I said, 'You're from around here,' and he said, 'You're not from around here, lol!' We struck up a conversation. It turns out he is an artist and was part of a cooperative of the arts - ceramics, painters, dancers, graphic designers, and musicians. He showed me the building that they purchased, a sound studio, dance floor, pottery classes, and the coffee shop was part of the collective. It was inspiring to me to see a town moving forward with people working together. That was 6 years ago they have branched to wellness and agriculture so if this sparks a interest contact me

Veterans Day marked our 10-year anniversary at our location on Embarcadero Drive, after being at The Purple Place for 20 years. Locals are knowledgeable of these locations; it was a big move for us. I didn't leave that location because of rent increases or monetary reasons; I left because of respect - respect for myself and the barbershop. My experiences in life have shown me that anytime you are authentic and truly exercise self-respect, self-love, and self-esteem, it's going to be met with gossip and others' opinions. Authenticity pays no mind to opinions or gossip, but it is truly freedom, and freedom for many is fearful. It's easier to stay comfortable in our own bu****it lies. What many people don't remember is that my daughter Katie passed away three days before our grand opening. Everyone said to call off the grand opening, but I decided to keep going and invited local pastors to the grand opening. What's funny to me at this moment is that this is the first time I've written anything about these events that led up to this very moment. Life truly is amazing, and I'm grateful for my life. 10 years, 20 years, or 30 years can be a blink and a lifetime in a moment. We're all just renting space. here

The Barber chair is no ordinary chair; rather, it is a chair imbued with 85 years of rich history, dating back to 1940. This chair has been the silent confidant to numerous stories, encompassing weddings, births, lost loves, new found loves, laughter, sadness, veterans returning from wars, and first loves, all of whom have sat in this chair. When we say we're in service, the barber's chair assumes the role of an instrument of this refined skill: the art of listening and conversation, which necessitates a certain level of respect. It is with profound honor and respect that we serve as instruments of this craft, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

We hide behind the veil of mediocrity . What's this ? It's the surface conversations , it's the version of ourselves that's hiding afraid to expose our true identity. True identity whats this ? First let's focus on what we think we are in mediocrity, living upto our parent's expectations, always wanting recognition at the expense of others , or is it im never good enough or smart enough always making ourselves small or always judging others by society's standards even if it goes against your values that is mediocrity. The veil is or curtain is the holding back of the truth it's the fabrication of the lies that you've bought into , it's the fear of authenticity it's false conditional love yes conditional ,if you do this way then I can love you , frankly it's bu****it. But what's beyond the veil? Is it self centered self appointed all about me ? Or is it something so pure and beautiful that we dare take the steps to examine ourselves and observe how we've been living and smelling our own bu****it .Then there are those who scratch the veil , willing to stand up but afraid to be the only one. Breaking through the veil can be described as the eagle who has been raised to be a turkey walk like a turkey talks like a turkey and acts like a turkey until the awareness and realization takes root we are slaves to mediocrity. Spread your wings today catch a breeze and see that it's possible to fly and then fly over and get a haircut!

This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
