Base pattern for the mesh head kerchief. Start and work this step until you get the length you like:
Triple Stitch & V-Stitch Triangle
Abbreviations (US Terms)
ch: Chain
tr: Triple Stitch (Treble Crochet)
sp: Space
V-st: Triple V-stitch (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr worked into the same stitch or space)
Written Instructions
Row 1 (The Foundation Circle):
Make a magic circle OR
Ch 6, slip stitch into the first chain to form a circle.
Inside the circle, work: Ch 3 (counts as your first triple), 2 tr, ch 3, 3 tr.
Turn. (You have 3 triples on each side of the center ch3 corner).
Row 2 (Establishing the Mesh/V-Stitch Spaces):
Ch 5 (counts as first triple plus 2 ch), 1 tr in the very first stitch at the base of the chain
Skip the next 2 triple stitches.
In the center corner space, work the corner: 3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr.
Skip the next 2 triple stitches.
In the top of the turning ch-5 from Row 1, work: V-stitch.
Turn. (Both sides are now perfectly symmetrical, each having an outer V-stitch and a corner).
Row 3 (Working the V-Stitches):
Ch 5, 1 tr in the very first stitch. (This creates your first edge V-stitch).
Work a V-st (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr) directly into space between the V-stitch from the row below and the center.
Work the corner: 3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr.
Work a V-st in between the corner and the first v-st.
In the top of the turning ch-5, work a final V-st (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr) to finish the row.
Turn.
Row 4 (Expanding the Pattern):
Ch 5, 1 tr in the first stitch (edge V-stitch).
Work a V-st in between every V-stitch across the side until you reach the corner.
In the center work the corner: 3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr.
Work a V-st in between every V-stitch across the second side.
In the very last stitch, work a final V-st.
Turn.
How to Repeat This Infinitely
From this point on, you can simply repeat Row 4 until the piece reaches your desired size. Every single row will naturally add one more V-stitch to each side of the triangle, while the center 3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr corner keeps expanding the center line cleanly without bowing or pulling.
