“You do not yield”
Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, Fire Breathing Bitch Queen, Rightful Queen of Terrasen. A girl who loved her kingdom very much. Of the three SJM series, Throne of Glass is my favorite. The plot, the world building, and most of all the characters.
When I think of a strong character I think of Aelin. She is sarcastic and funny, clever and determined. Fiercely loyal and deeply feeling. She is brave and broken.
You can feel her swagger and wit but also her vulnerability and heartbreak. Even after getting hit with tragedy after tragedy, she picks herself up and continues to try to protect the weak and right the wrongs of a corrupt empire. Even when she feels she has to do it alone to protect the ones she loves.
Throne of Glass is a series that made me think and cry and laugh. The ensemble of characters had so much depth and so much realism. Truly, I think about this series every single day. It broke my heart and it rebuilt it too. And when I feel the world pressing in, I remind myself, “You do not yield”.
