In this home shared by a field biologist and musician, skulls and taxidermy are arranged with subtle whimsy, so they catch the eye without overwhelming. With cherished masks from past musical events and a stand made of treasured family-owned books, this display brings joy to the clients and sparks curiosity for visitors. Death can be as beautiful as life!

When dated architectural details demand custom solutions, embrace the opportunity to be bold!

A warm and inviting mural wallpaper in the entry sets the tone for the texture and color story that flows through the adjacent spaces. Whitewashing the original dark redwood instantly brightens the space while preserving the grain and solid construction of these beautiful old timbers, honoring the home’s history.

In the dining room, we transformed a narrow, unsightly display into a functional cabinet with placemat storage inside the doors. By bumping out the frame from the wall and adding tall cabinet doors on a recessed plinth, we created the illusion of depth, enhancing the room's height. The “boomerang” accent details add interest and texture, blending mid-century modern elements with the original Tudor architecture.

We upgraded the base trim to match the home’s newer modern details and painted the walls a steely blue, complemented by a lighter mushroom beige ceiling to harmonize with the living room. The beefed-up, softly rounded trim where the ceiling meets the walls enhances the airy ambiance of this dining room and connects seamlessly to the renovated space beyond.

Design Transformation: Where Function Meets Soul

Take a look at this authentic room makeover! A mid-century bar cart, a cherished family heirloom, now harmonizes with a locally sourced vintage table and chairs. The custom built-in cabinet not only anchors the space but also reflects the home's unique architecture.

With a clever facelift, the cabinet conceals an awkward display while introducing a modern touch. The geometric “boomerang” detail seamlessly ties together the room's diverse styles, enhancing its timeless quality.

Custom-designed FLOR rug tiles add vibrant pops of color and energy, effortlessly removable for easy cleaning. Updated trim, molding, and a fresh coat of paint transform this dining room into a low-maintenance, casual gathering space, perfect for both family moments and elegant entertaining.

In this project, adaptability, function, and quality met with intuition, soul, and comfort to create a space that feels both fresh and true to its roots.

Our goal with this unique kitchen was to modernize it while keeping it entertainment-friendly. The client was keen on retaining the original corner sink, around which the rest of the design was built. Skylights and glass doors were introduced to flood the space with natural light, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The large format porcelain tiles bridge the home's original era with modern aesthetics, while a wine barrel mini island separates cooking and mingling zones. Composite countertops add both durability and style, completing this functional and beautiful kitchen.
