Flat extruded foam sheets are becoming part of a velociraptor, one carved profile at a time.

For this work, we used Cutting It Close 3/8" Big Boy Uncut Rougher to clear material and the 1/16" radius, 3.6° 3D tapered ballnose with a 1/4" shank to carve the profiles and finer contours. The two cutters helped take these pieces from flat sheets to shaped components for the velociraptor.

A closer look at our completed Spice Routes display inside Gather ‘Round the Table: Texas Food Traditions at the Witte Museum.

From the stacked spice crates and barrels to the illuminated trade route map, this display was designed to bring the story of the spice trade into a physical, immersive setting.

Gather ‘Round the Table is on view through February 7, 2027, so there’s still plenty of time to see it in person.

And this Saturday, October 10, the Witte celebrates 100 years with its Party of the Century. A pretty incredible time to have our work on display inside the museum.

At the Texas Woodworking Festival, we got a closer look at the Tormek water-cooled sharpening system and how it delivers controlled, repeatable sharpening without overheating the tool.

At the Texas Woodworking Festival, Glenn from VACUDOG Products shows us their original vacuum workholding system. It fits directly into bench dog holes and can also be used with templates or routed gasket channels for custom setups.

Congratulations to the team on receiving their U.S. patent for the original VACUDOG!

After years of building Summit Effects Woodcraft, the time has come to close this chapter.

What started in a garage grew into something far beyond what I imagined. From first builds to working alongside manufacturers and partners, every project pushed the craft forward. Every piece carried the process, the lessons, and the standard I set for myself.

This is not an April Fools post. This is real.

Summit Effects Woodcraft is coming to a close.
Not as an end, but as a transition.

I’m moving into a new direction focused on design, collaboration, and a different way of building.

If you’ve followed the work, supported the business, or been part of the journey, I appreciate it more than you know.
