Burgundydrop Bonnet is native species in North America, found in east and central Texas. Mycena haematopus is known as the “bleeding fairy helmet” because it bleeds reddish-purple fluid when cut or bruised. 🩸

Intricate, surreal, mesmerizing mushroom textures.

The partial veil is a protective membrane in filled mushrooms that shields developing spores. As the mushroom matures, the veil tears leaving a skirt-like portion on the stem.

If any of y’all in the mycology community can identify this mushroom I’d love to know. I don’t always identify all of my findings. In this case, I was focused on the textures, the details, the smoothness. Nature is so beautiful!!!!

Spotted this little guy in the morning after a heavy rain 🐌🌧️🌀

I love recognizing spirals in nature because they represent the winding journey of life, cycles, and growth. Spirals are found in shells, plants, hurricanes, galaxies, and even the double helix structure in our human DNA. Once you recognize that, you’ll likely start seeing them everywhere.
