You know when you're thrifting and something just screams at you to take it home? This screamed yesterday 😊 Was I shopping for furniture? No. Did I need a desk? Also no. I had a perfectly functional desk, but this piece just had so much character: it's an antique spinet desk, also known as a piano desk, which was originally converted from a melodeon or small organ. These were made from the Victorian era through the 1930s. And it was only $60 at the Habitat for Humanity Re-store! Heck yeh! It fits perfectly in my office space, and my former desk was moved into the Studio and repurposed for storage and for drying bowls after painting and glazing. I'd say that's a win-win-win!!!

Quite possibly my favorite line in The Chosen, spoken by Matthew to Gaius: "I have only one thing to do today...follow Him." Such a simple quote, but its meaning is EVERYTHING ✝️ This little frame hangs above my worktable in the Studio and I look at it often while working. Thank you, Matthew, for your wise words!

As promised! The next big thing for the Studio: Guest Artist for the month of May at Ranch Style in Page, AZ! I have been so excited about the collaboration with them by having my pieces in their gorgeous shop - I mean, just look at the chandeliers!!! - but when I was asked to be May's Guest Artist, I was launched over the moon! If y'all are in the Page/Lake Powell area, a visit to Ranch Style is a MUST! Centrally located in the middle of Page in the Dam Plaza and surrounded by lots of shopping and dining options, a stop here is a must-add to your itinerary for the absolute best in cowgirl-hippie chic! Some much-needed rain on the Studio's windows this cold evening in the high Arizona grasslands. Even had to crank on the heat. Perfect painting weather! Dragonfly courtesy of my six year-old smarty-pants grandbaby and her 3-D printer. When I was her age, I was still learning the alphabet - she's mastered robotics and the art of 3-D printing 🤯🤯🤯

While foraging in a thrift shop last year, I came upon this little shelf, dusty and buried amidst other cast-offs. I dug it out, bought it for a whopping $5, cleaned and painted it luxe gold, and turned it into a lovely home altar in the studio. I've slowly been filling it with things to facilitate my daily prayers, including the statues my parents gave me on my First Communion and Confirmation, a crystal rosary identical to the one I had as a child, and a miniature antique Belgian prayer book. The journey back into my Catholic faith and upbringing after many years of lapse just hits different in this season of life, you know? ✝️
