Talent Is Not Enough

I started my design journey in Saigon, then left everything behind to begin again in San Francisco. 17 years ago I didn’t speak much English, I had very little money, and every dollar counted. I couldn’t afford alot of thing, so I became my own teacher , working with great designers, studying every night, watching tutorials, and practicing until I became a little better each day. The creative industry is competitive. I met incredible mentors, but I also faced discrimination and people who underestimated me. Instead of letting that define me, I focused on improving my craft. Years later, some of the floral collections I designed are still sold by major U.S. retailers. People often see the success, but they don’t see the years of sacrifice, discipline, and quiet work behind it. Talent may open the door, but discipline, consistency, and lifelong learning are what keep it open. Keep investing in yourself .
