I am honored to be included in the Portola Valley Arts Fest 5th Anniversary Show, which opens today at the Kriewall-Haehl Gallery.

The brooch pictured is my latest piece, which I finished at midnight the evening before the show was installed. I know - there aren’t enough hours in the day for everything I want to do!

Through September 30th, come see the work of a remarkable group of Bay Area artists Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm at Woodside Priory, 302 Portola Rd, Portola Valley, CA.

These earrings were custom made for lovely Erin, who tells me that she was at a neighborhood party one evening and was admiring a guest’s earrings. These turned out to be a pair of operculum and gold earrings that I made about 13 years ago for an expectant mother, for whom the naturally occurring spiral motif was especially significant. She graciously offered my information to Erin, and thus, this similar pair was born.

I find it awe inspiring how in operculum shells, the delicately defined spirals powerfully manifest the naturally occurring spiral motifs found in nature on small and large scales; nautilus and snail shells, growth patters in fiddleheads and certain seeds and fruits, spiral galaxies and certain weather and water patterns.

These pieces, which I shipped to a long time client in Australia early in July, went missing while in a postal distribution center and the shipping box was considered lost by Australia Post for more than a month.
Incredibly, they resurfaced and were delivered - with no explanation - a couple of days ago, to the shock and delight of both my client and me.

She tells me that she is wearing several pieces at once to celebrate and make up for lost time 🌞

My client and I have spent many hours planning the designs and colors for these pieces. The brooch in particular has strong ties to my client’s personal history and cultural background and I first made it a couple years ago as a necklace, which I have now converted to a brooch. So relieved that the pieces found their way to where they were meant to go.

One of my favorite shows, ARTWEAR at the de Young, is coming up in a couple weeks at San Francisco’s beautiful de Young Museum. I am honored to once again be there with a collection of new and signature work.

The show takes place on May 8 and May 9, an excellent time to find a unique and meaningful Mother's Day gift - or a treat for yourself, such as these pomegranate dangle earrings in oxidized silver with garnet, fire opal, pink sapphire and ruby.

The show will feature a selection of jewelry, accessories and textiles from a strong group of local artists.

Hello again - is it too late to wish you all a Happy New Year? I guess even in the darkest crevices of my mind I am still hopeful that things will work out for the best, for all of us, in spite of the state of the world.

Here is one of my last custom orders of 2025, a pair of earrings that to me has a strong sculptural and human message. With its iconic character, the circular design reminds me of the wheels on the Danish Sun Chariot from about 1400 BC, an ancient symbol that speaks of time, the sun and celestial motion - life, energy, and warmth.

Initially inspired in my Solar Eclipse brooch, the design of these earrings was proposed by a long time client of mine as a pair of sculptural, timeless, understated clip on earrings. There is something delightfully life-affirming about composing shapes with rays in silver and 18 karat gold. Happy New Year.
