- signature style? beady eyes, a tiny mouth, and the occasional angry frown!

pompom noses and red/yellow embroidered mouths are also my faves.

in honor of , I wanted to share a big part of my culture - food!

these are some of the asian produce I made for my pop-up market last year.

in order of appearance: leeks, garlic, daikon radish, napa cabbage, bitter-melon, chinese eggplant, japanese yam, asian pear, ginger, persimmon, sumo orange, tomato, shiitake mushroom.

making a giant red panda ❤️ mini or mega? I’m one of the oddballs who loves both because of how they challenge my design skills differently. ppl mostly associate me with my giant makes though (and those patterns tend to be my best selling patterns)!

I sometimes worry that making giant creations alienates me from amigurumi lovers outside of the US (since thicker yarn isn’t as easy to find) - but I hope that my work inspires what’s possible!

“surface crocheting” is a great technique to have in your toolkit - especially if you work with chenille yarn.

as designers, it’s important for us to introduce techniques that work WITH the medium - not against it. you wouldn’t expect water color paint to behave like oil paint, right? the same concept applies to chenille vs. acrylic yarns.

“no-sew” patterns are not necessarily easier. they require much more attention to reorienting/aligning in order to make sure parts are joined symmetrically. familiarity with the basics of crochet is a requirement as well because the stitch definition of chenille yarn can be difficult to identify.
