I've been in love with the beauty and variety of seeds since my first day working with seeds.

We sell seeds that weight from around two hundred-thousandths of a gram each to about 1 gram each.

The largest seed in the world can weight almost 100 pounds! We don't sell this type of seed.

Do you recognize any of the seeds in these photos? 3 out of 4 may be easy to identify.

We’re shining a spotlight on Spotted Beebalm (Monarda punctata) today. Even though this hardy perennial herb is native to the Eastern U.S., it looks very much at home in our Pacific Northwest test garden.

Some October blooms that caught our eye today in one of our Northern California test gardens.

Spotted Joe-Pye W**d blooms in summer and fall. This long-lived perennial wildflower is native to much of the US and Canada, providing late-season nectar for many pollinators. The fluffy seed heads feed many birds often seen in gardens, like juncos, goldfinches and tufted titmice.

Big Blue salvia is one of the most pollinator friendly plants we have ever grown.

Honeybees, native bees, bumblebees, and butterflies are all crazy for Big Blue! Also attracts hummingbirds.

Prior to growing Big Blue, we would see one or two monarchs per season in our Santa Rosa trial garden. Now we see monarchs most days. The monarch in this video has so far spent three full days feeding exclusively on Big Blue.

Big Blue blooms from late spring until hard frost. In our trial garden, it is mid to late summer before it becomes a heavily visited pollinator plant. From then on, it is the number one pollinator plant. Gaillardias, echinaceas, tithonias and butterfly bushes are nearly untouched if Big Blue is blooming nearby.

October is the month of creepy crawlies! We’re starting out with a pair of daddy longlegs on a pair of zinnias. The first zinnia is from State Fair Mix and the second is Senora.
