Getting back into the horse world has been very scary for me. I was worried about what people would think and who I could trust with my vulnerability. Letting my guard down is not easy, but when I do it’s a big deal, those that see that side are usually pretty special people to me. As I take this journey I have learned that the horse world hasn’t changed much like most things. There are so many haters and it’s really hard to tell who really wants to see you succeed and who wants to see you fail. There are a lot of pretenders out there. Some closer than you think. So, if you think I’m being quiet or snobby if you see me out on the trail. That’s not it. I’m taking it all in and holding my trust and vulnerability close because I hurt easily.

"You're so lucky..."

It's something we often say when we only see the highlight reel.

The rosettes. The smiles. The happy photos. The moments where everything seems to have fallen into place.

But luck rarely tells the whole story.

Behind every "overnight success" are hundreds of ordinary days that nobody saw.

The early mornings when the alarm felt cruel. The late nights wondering if it was all worth it. The tears after things didn't go to plan. The setbacks. The criticism. The self-doubt. The sacrifices. The times they nearly gave up...
..and then chose to keep going anyway.

The truth is, most people aren't lucky.

They're resilient.

They've learned to get back up after life has knocked them sideways. They've invested in themselves, even when it felt uncomfortable. They've kept showing up, one small step at a time, even when progress felt painfully slow.

So next time you catch yourself thinking, "They're so lucky," perhaps pause and wonder...

What part of their story haven't I seen?

Because we never really know what someone has walked through to stand where they are today.

Keep cheering people on. Keep doing the work. And remember... the little steps you take today are quietly building the life that someone else might one day call "luck." 💚✨

Honestly, you should.

Not about everything.

Not about the stranger's opinion. Not about whether everyone likes you. Not about the fact that person from Facebook thinks she could have ridden your test better. Not about the things that won't matter in six months.

But give a f*ck about the things that make your heart beat a little faster.

The horse that nickers when you arrive. The dreams that keep nudging at you. The people who feel like home. The sunset hack. The muddy boots. The laughter that leaves your stomach aching. The goals that scare you because they matter.

Life gets exhausting when we spend our energy caring about absolutely everything.

Every comment. Every judgement. Every perceived mistake. Every expectation.

Your energy is precious.

Your nervous system is precious.

Your time is precious.

So be selective.

Save your *cks for the things that light you up.

The things that make you feel alive.

The things that align with your values.

The things that leave you lying in bed at night thinking,

"That was worth it."

The older I get, the more I realise how much energy matters. 🖤

Not everyone will remember exactly what you said…
but they will remember how they felt around you.

Did they feel judged?
Small?
Drained?
Like they had to prove themselves?

Or did they feel safe?
Seen?
Encouraged?
Like they could exhale a little?

The horse world — and honestly the world in general — can be harsh enough already.

So if you can be anything…
be kind.
Be supportive.
Be the person that claps when others succeed.
Be the calm in someone’s chaos.
Be the reminder that people don’t have to earn softness.

You never know what battle someone walked in carrying that day.
