Adding seasonal elements to your home doesn’t have to be difficult, expensive, or time consuming. For Fall, adding in some texture through pinecones, dried florals, or wood elements; bringing in the cozy factor with candlelight (battery operated or real); and layering more saturated colors with pillow covers, throw blankets, and florals is always a sure way to elevate the richness of Fall and welcome the changing season into your home. You don't need tons of storage bins to add in a few touches of the seasons.

Shelf styling can be a bit daunting. I have found that if you incorporate these 5 elements, you will have a cohesive look with much visual interest.

-Balance: with weight, color, and symmetry, you can achieve a balanced look.

-Repetition: repeating colors, metallic hues, and shapes in a diagonal pattern will keep the eye moving and interested.

-Scale: using fewer, larger pieces in size and scale gives a more impactful look, rather than numerous small objects which can appear cluttered.

-Layering: architectural pieces, artwork, and books provides a backdrop to other pieces in the forefront and gives the shelves more depth.

-Groupings: group items in odd numbers to be more apt to capture the eye and force the eyes to move around.

Bonus Tip: get personal! Use items that tell you and your family’s story! A framed family photo, travel memento, or family heirloom❤️. These are far more meaningful than decor from the latest launch at a retail store.

July took me into four very different homes- two larger staging projects and two that just needed some lighter finishing touches.

One had beautiful original character I wanted to work with, not compete with. Another needed furniture to help an empty dining room make sense. In another, a few thoughtful details were really all that was needed.

The goal is the same: look at what’s already working, figure out what’s missing, and help the home be it’s best, without trying to turn it into something it isn’t. But for each of these, it’s an honor to be a part of the process.

Which one speaks to you?

To help my daughter get some systems in place for organization and storage, I built her a custom closet system. After looking at the costs of pre-made ones from the big box stores, I knew I could build one for a fraction of the cost and it would maximize space, since I could build it to the exact measurements we needed. Reusing the existing shelving, rods, and scrap wood we had in our garage, as well as leftover paint and hardware from other projects, I built this for a little under $60. Isn't that price unbelievable?!

This is proof- we can all help make our homes work for us in a more functional (and fun) way! Let me know if you have any questions - I’d love to help you tackle a project like this too! Here are a few general tips:
-Consider a double rod: such a great way to maximize space.
-Velvet or slim hangers were a huge space saver.
-You don’t need the most high end plywood for this project. (It’s in the closet). Stick with middle grade and fill in any knots with wood fill or spackle.

This tree is so grand! It is one of my favorites to decorate each year for dear clients. We used some of their own ornaments and pics and I sourced items as well to get the very full look. That white velvet ribbon- I’ll be using that again and again!
I hope many Christmas memories will be made around this tree in their beautiful home!

Some say that 3 is a crowd. I say, three (trees) is… juuussst right!
Merry Christmas in July!
I love changing up this tree each year in our living room. Layering in a few more elements and maybe changing some ribbon. This year I added in the crystals from Amazon. You can never have too much sparkle or twinkle lights!

Christmas in July throwbacks with this tree I decorated for a wonderful family. Each ornament tells a story of love, laughter, and holiday joy, wrapped in a vibrant ensemble of reds, greens, and snowy whites. It's truly a holiday delight that warms the heart and brightens the home. Who can resist a sprinkle of cheer during this merry season? 🎉❤️
