Sometimes the answer isn’t adding another piece.

Sometimes it’s editing.

Giving something more breathing room. Moving something unexpected. Removing the thing that’s competing with everything else. Letting one really good piece have its moment.

More doesn’t automatically make a space feel finished.

Sometimes knowing what not to add is the part that changes everything.

Restraint can be kinda chic too.

Please never preface a question with “this might be stupid” around me. 😂

Design comes with approximately 847 decisions, a whole vocabulary you probably never asked to learn, and plenty of moments where you’re going to wonder, wait… why are we doing it this way?

Ask me.

Part of my job is making sure you understand the why behind the decisions we’re making, not expecting you to suddenly become an interior designer overnight.

You hired me for that part. 😉

So ask the question. I promise I’ve heard weirder.

Consider this your permission slip to leave the cute thing at the store.

I know. Painful.

But filling a home just to make it feel “done” is one of the fastest ways to end up with a bunch of things you like individually and a space that doesn’t quite come together.

I’d rather wait for the right piece than fill the spot with an ehhh, good enough.

Good design can take a minute.

Your style five years ago doesn’t have to be your style today.

You’re allowed to outgrow the things you once loved. You’re allowed to want your home to feel different because you feel different.

And no, that doesn’t mean starting over.

Sometimes it’s reworking what you already have. Sometimes it’s finally replacing the piece you’ve never really loved. Sometimes it’s figuring out what your style actually is now instead of designing around decisions you made years ago.

A home should feel like the person living in it today.

Not a time capsule of every design decision you’ve ever made.

And figuring out what stays, what goes, and what comes next?

That’s the fun part.

You don’t need to buy something just to fill the space.

You’re allowed to live with an empty wall.

You’re allowed to change your mind.

Your home doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

Take your time. Make it yours.

Consider this permission to stop rushing your home.

Some of my favorite spaces come together slowly. You find the right piece, live in the room for a while, change your mind, move things around and eventually it starts feeling like you.
