Did you know that using a 6mm polyurethane moisture barrier (often called "visqueen") under your luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring in a modular home with a plywood subfloor can actually cause more harm than good?
Here's why:
Trapped Moisture: Visqueen creates a seal that traps moisture, leading to mold and mildew growth, subfloor damage, and even LVP issues. Plywood subfloors in modular homes are particularly susceptible to moisture damage due to the potential for trapped moisture.
Lack of Breathability: Plywood subfloors need to breathe to maintain their integrity. Visqueen prevents this, disrupting the natural moisture balance.
