Nandi, which means "giving joy," is the sacred bull of the Hindu god Shiva, one of the most important Hindu gods. When the world becomes evil, Shiva destroys it to make way for beneficial change. Nandi is Shiva's animal form, his means of transportation, and his most ardent worshipper. Sacred animals served as vahanas, or mounts for Hindu deities to travel on. Shiva and Nandi's association in Hindu scriptures and art can be traced to very early Indian culture, where dairy farming was the most important occupation, thus explaining the importance and sacredness of the cow and bull. A temple to Shiva would almost always have a Nandi sculpture.

VINTAGE BRONZE URLI:
This exquisite solid bronze Urli is a traditional cookware in South India and has a rich history dating back many many years. It is traditionally handcrafted using materials such as clay, copper, and bronze. The name "Urli" originates from the Tamil word "Urulai", which aptly describes its round bowl shape. Initially, these vessels were used for cooking meals and preparing Ayurvedic medicines within households. Over time, they have transformed into beautiful decorative bowls. Today, they serve a different purpose as they are used to hold floating flowers and candles. This daily ritual practiced at homes and workplaces carries deep symbolic significance, representing auspiciousness. During festivals and special occasions, it is customary to embellish entrances with these adorned Urlis, paying homage to tradition and inviting positive energies into the space.
