Barbara Collins Interior Design

Barbara Collins Interior Design Specializing in residential remodeling, custom projects, and project management. I love all things houses and homes. There are no “rules” in design.

Everyone has a story to tell…

I am Interior Designer Barbara Collins…you can call me Barbie or Barb. My design style is more classic traditional, with a healthy dose of drama, but I design for the style of my clients and what works best for their design goals and lifestyle. YOUR home is YOUR story; it is where you live, love, and celebrate life. I like to design timeless spaces that tell YOUR sto

ry, while encouraging you to be your best self. Good design is personal and individual…one size should never fit all. I love mixing old and new pieces, highs and lows, and antiques and heirlooms. I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Environmental Studies: Interior Design. I am an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), and I am an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). My design services include:

• Kitchen and Bath Design
• Project Management
• Lighting Plans
• Custom Cabinetry Design
• Custom Drapery and Upholstery
• Antiques and Accessories
• Space or Furniture Layout
• Design & Color Consultations
• Staging or “Spruce-Up”

I enjoy getting to know my clients and delivery a design that truly exceeds their expectations. I like to begin with a two-hour design consultation to get to know the client and their design goals. Message for an appointment or just to say hi! Let’s talk soon! My Best,

Barb

It was great to spend the evening connecting with industry peers at the CEU networking event, Sustainable Luxury Kitchens Connecting Design, Technology, and the Smart Home. The event was hosted by Slyman Bros. Appliance Center in Ballwin. The event was put together by ASID and the NKBA with the Sustainable Luxury Kitchens program provided by Monogram Appliances.

Took away some great insights to bring back to my clients! It is always good to stay on the forefront of industry trends. As a wonderful bonus, we participated in a floral arranging activity and brought home gorgeous fresh flowers from Rudy’s flower truck!!! I loved getting fresh flowers!!

Spring has officially sprung and it is a great time to update your interior space!
Before you tackle a full home renovation, you might just need to “refresh” your home. Here are a few quick ideas to update your space:

1. Kickstart your “refresh” by clearing out clutter and outdated decor. If an item doesn’t spark joy or fit your current style, let it find a new home—donate it or toss it! This will free up space and give you a fresh foundation to build on.
2. Update your walls with a fresh coat of paint—this is any easy update for minimal cost. Remember, paint samples can help you test out colors before committing!
3. Dress your windows to impress! Choose draperies in a color or pattern that complement your room's style, or consider sheer curtains for a lighter, airy look. Beautiful draperies can really pull a space together and add that finishing touch.
4. Shop your house—or even your mom’s house! Move pictures, vases, artwork, or furniture from one room to another to breathe new life into familiar pieces. You’d be surprised how a favorite lamp, artwork, or decorative bowl can look completely different in a new setting. Get creative and have fun experimenting!
5. Spring and summer offer gorgeous stems and blossoms you can display indoors. You can usually purchase bouquets at your grocery store, farmers markets, or clip them from your own yard. Some of my favorites are magnolia, hydrangea, and Japanese maples stems. Remember to ask permission before taking any clippings from someone else's yard!

Ready, set, refresh! You’ve got this—small changes can make a big difference. Enjoy your refreshed space!

Sneak peak…jewel box bathroom. Just waiting for shower doors to arrive!

There are many things to consider when remodeling a bathroom such as proper lighting, ventilation, storage, and safety issues. For safety reasons, you can use tile that is specified for the floor on the walls but you cannot use tile specified for the wall on the floor.

Lighting issues are important for personal grooming, shaving, and putting on makeup. You have to see what you are doing! Storage is important for towels, washclothes, and personal products.

Making the space function properly is priority. Making the space pretty is easy and fun! 🤩

We cleared the bathroom, added new lighting, a custom walnut vanity and tower with gold hardware, quartz countertop, delta champagne bronze fixtures, new tile, crown and wallpaper in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Small space…big impact!

🌹🌹🌹Happy Valentine’s Day! 🌹🌹🌹

Can we talk about the color red for a minute!?!?! It is one of my faves…the color red can grab our attention like no other color can! ❤️. Red is such a power color. It has a way of evoking emotions like love, passion, and confidence.

Red is found throughout nature…on gloriously colored vegetables, fruits, flowers, sunsets, and birds! Nature really is the ultimate canvas!

Red looks great in a space, on furniture, fabrics, Wallcoverings, and even on the ceiling! If you’ve never used red in your interiors, you really must give it a try! ❤️

Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! 🥰

Advice that I will share again. Invest in your bedroom. We spend roughly 33% of our time in our bedrooms. Treat your bedroom like it is a 5-star retreat and a wellness tool. Invest in quality. Your future self will thank you.

Invest in your bedroom!!! It is a small slice in the world that belongs to you for you. Make it peaceful, serene, luxurious, and an escape from the world. The only pictures that you should display should be of you and spouse/partner. Bring in fresh flowers regularly. Your bedroom should be an oasis. Invest in your bedroom…you are worth it. 🌟
