Yesterday’s industry session on New Zealand’s latest Budget provided valuable insights into housing supply, development opportunities, regulatory reform, and the future direction of the construction sector.

A big thank you to Nancy Lu MP and Jeff Fahrensohn for sharing their expertise and perspectives. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including housing policy, Building Consent processes, CCC requirements, industry regulations, and current market challenges.

Among the many topics discussed, the conversation around H1 energy efficiency requirements, product documentation, and compliance support was particularly relevant to the building products sector.

As building performance and energy efficiency standards continue to evolve, the focus is increasingly extending beyond products alone to the broader support and expertise required throughout the project lifecycle.

For the window and door industry, product performance remains important, but comprehensive technical documentation, local support, and a strong understanding of compliance requirements are equally valuable in helping projects progress smoothly.

A product training that truly sparked new ideas 🔥

This session from Australian brand Breezway was packed with insights! Not only are the products adaptable to a wider range of applications, they also meet R-value requirements with ease. Beyond the traditional louvre systems, the introduction of double-glazed louvres and smart (motorised) louvres really takes performance to the next level.

What’s exciting is how much more flexibility this brings to architectural design—creating a better balance between ventilation, natural light, and energy efficiency.

An event, Neighbourhood Fusion Network, was held last night at Wainui Golf Club.

The venue itself is well-established, with expansive views across the course and evening light contributing to a relaxed and open setting for interaction. As a supporting facility that has developed alongside surrounding residential projects, the golf club is inherently embedded in the broader trajectory of regional growth.
Beyond the event itself, more attention is drawn to the evolving dynamics of the area.
The northern extension of Auckland’s North Shore, particularly around the Rodney district, is transitioning from a traditionally peripheral location into an emerging growth zone with increasing potential.
Population movement, infrastructure development, and construction activity are progressing in parallel.

From the perspective of Lidar Windows and Doors, areas still in the early stages of formation often represent the starting point for future demand.
