PIE DAY!

There is only one pie my family insists on having on Thanksgiving—my apple pie (we also have pumpkin cheesecake, key lime, and coconut cream this year but they are from the store.)

I’ve documented the steps in the slides.
My pie tips:

1) Use butter flavor Crisco in the pie crust
2) Use Granny Smith apples 🍏
3) Use apple pie seasoning + Mexican vanilla + real butter in the pie mix
4) Cover the pie edges with foil in the oven so they don’t burn
5) Don’t try and make it perfect. A “rustic” looking pie is beautiful!

Road trippin’ around Central Texas this week! First off was the 1928 hotel in Waco— a stunning refurbished hotel by Chip and Joanna Gaines, followed by shopping at Magnolia. Then a trip to Round Top for the fall antiques show. We could’ve spent a week here! Loved all the fall decor— even though the weather still feels like summer. 😆🎃🍁

I love beautiful stationery and note cards and letterpress design— I love to rub my finger over the top of the impression and feel the cotton paper. (Yes, I’m a design nerd!)

I’m super excited to debut my new line of vintage Texas cattle brand note cards! Each letter in the word HOWDY and THX Y’ALL is an actual vintage Texas cattle brand from the 1800s. they look really cool as letterpress impressions!

More letterpress goodness! I researched vintage Texas cattle brands to make the letters for this howdy notecard. A lot of the brands are from that early .1800s. Even the heart was a brand, isn’t it sweet? I have ideas for a few notecards in this style.

NEW—DEEP IN THE PRESS OF TEXAS! 🤠

I have been so excited to reveal this Texas illustrated map letterpress print— I’ve been working on it for a long time. Letterpress makes this designer's heart happy. ❤️

Anything make you smile? I love the Buddy Holly glasses (a nod to Lubbock, where my daughter is attending Texas Tech University!)

Welcome to Spicewood & Rose

Howdy! I'm Tricia Ulberg, a graphic designer living in Spicewood, Texas. Spicewood is a little town in the Hill Country just outside Austin, famous for it's artisan community, Bluebonnets, BBQ, and Willie Nelson.

I love all things handmade. Each and every flour sack towel is screen printed by hand in my shop. I also design and print t-shirts, hand mix my own bath bars, illustrate greeting cards, and I even design my packaging. I also like to promote and sell handmade goods from other talented artisans and small business owners. You're sure to find a unique gift for someone special in my shop!
