This fun couple’s primary bedroom already had a great starting point — they just needed the right layers and finishing touches to make the room feel warmer and more inviting.

We started with substantial wood nightstands to give the bed more visual weight, then added custom bedding and drapery in two playful tick-mark patterns.

Curvy antique brass lamps soften all those straight lines. Above the bed, painterly black-and-white artwork brings everything together — a timeless color combination that will never go out of style.

“I’m obsessed with our bedroom. Like, obsessed,” said the homeowner. “I feel like it’s a fancy hotel.”

And why shouldn’t your own bedroom feel a little like a fancy hotel? A little everyday pampering can do wonders for the soul.

Every once in a while, a project comes along that continues to be a favorite long after the installation is complete. This dining room, completed in 2023, is one of those projects — and it remains the hero project on my website today.

I think it’s the combination that keeps drawing me back: a little drama, a timeless transitional style, and a palette of soft coastal colors that I never seem to tire of.

The adventure started with high wainscoting painted in Sherwin-Williams Cyberspace, a moody shade that shifts from slate blue/gray to nearly black as the light changes. We balanced that drama with warm wood tones, natural cane, pale jade, and faded coastal colors.

Then we took the ceiling up a notch with Jasper Stone painted inside the recessed panels of the coffered ceiling.

Portuguese reactive-glaze ceramics add personality and color to one wall, while framed intaglio shadow boxes create an artful counterpoint on the other.

It was a project that called for some bold choices, and I’m still grateful to clients who trusted the vision. The result feels dramatic without being over-the-top, collected without feeling fussy, and — most importantly — like a room you actually want to linger in.

🏠 A new Cozy Up, just in time for fall!

Our mission for this home was to make it feel warmer and less clinical for this newly retired couple.

We began by playing up symmetry with white oak bookcases for the fireplace. A warm neutral wall color was applied to replace the cold builder grey. Then, we hunted down the perfect custom drapery fabric to enhance the existing furniture. Terracotta paisley with hints of indigo brought everything together, as did the rug selections. An indigo Persian motif in the dining area and a soft, earthy stripe in the living room anchored each space underfoot.

Next came lighting, with an iron-forged chandelier and jug lamps creating a warm, inviting glow. Coffee and side tables, along with thoughtfully chosen accessories, finished out the rooms.

The result? A transformation that left the homeowners genuinely amazed at how warm, welcoming, and pulled-together their home could feel.

Sometimes, the TV is the biggest thing in the living room – but it doesn’t have to look like it. For this living room, we turned the TV into a beautiful focal point by installing a Frame TV and surrounding it with a substantial 3" gilded frame, giving it the look of artwork when the screen is off. Plaid wallpaper adds the cozy, collected feel of a classic golf club, while a new TV console with solid doors elegantly hides away the everyday clutter.

Layering in the details made such a wonderful difference in this living room makeover.

After highlighting the bookcases with a moody paint color, overhauling the mantel, and adding custom drapery and matchstick blinds, we kept the homeowner’s sentimental handmade wood pieces and layered in coastal accessories and books that gave the room personality.

New lamps added the cozy glow that was missing before, while throw pillows, organic stems, and capiz shell artwork were the icing on the cake.

The client was amazed at the difference “all this stuff” could make in the feel of the room. I couldn’t agree more! Accessories – the “stuff” – are what give a room life. They tell the story, add warmth, and make a space feel collected and truly personal.

Coastal style with a little European cottage... I love the way these two styles come together. Raw textures, imperfect finishes, weathered materials, and curvy, nature-inspired shapes give this owner’s suite big personality. With sculptural vanity mirrors, capiz shell flower pendants, an old-world chandelier (and a few pieces borrowed straight from nature) this bedroom feels collected, comfortable, and a little bit soulful.

This was such a fun project to work on, thanks to homeowners who were an absolute delight to collaborate with! We transformed the home from Tuscan to Coastal – a style shift we've had the pleasure of creating in many of our projects – with marine blue cabinetry, crisp quartz countertops, and a soft mosaic backsplash that completely refreshed the space. Thoughtfully chosen accessories, including vintage Japanese glass fishing floats and a colorful café rug, completed the design, adding warmth, personality, and a relaxed coastal feel.

This lovely client is a talented artist with a great eye, so we were especially honored when she asked us to help reimagine her screened porch.

Knowing her love of warm colors, we started with outdoor rugs that would set the tone for the entire space. A C-shaped sectional anchors one end, creating a cozy spot for conversation, while a shapely wicker-and-glass dining table defines the other end for meals and gatherings.

And because this client has an adventurous spirit – and a true appreciation for art – we had fun bringing in bold pieces, including an oversized metal sculpture and a colorful print that complements her own artistic style.

The result? A porch that feels colorful, creative, and completely her.

As part of a whole-home Cozy Up project, we brought together pieces my client had loved and lived with for years — including an heirloom four-poster bed, butterfly specimen artwork, her side table and lamp, and an ivory quilt made by her mother.

We also added some vintage pieces found elsewhere, including these cheerful occasional chairs. Then we brought the look together by introducing a patterned quilt and shams, dimensional wall trim and molding, custom window treatments, and a girly chandelier — something she hadn’t requested but that made her eyes light up when I suggested it.

Not pictured is a gallery wall filled with antique portraits, original artwork, and other treasured small pieces.

🔸 New project reveal! 🔸 By layering rich color, thoughtful finishes, and a few high-impact updates, we turned this dated 1980s space into a warm, inviting slightly Modern Boho retreat. Paint did the heavy lifting, giving existing cabinets, the backsplash, and a new wood slat feature wall fresh personality, while timeless luxury vinyl flooring, statement wallpaper, and black appliances created a more cohesive, elevated look. Pops of jade, warm terracotta accents and cozy textures completed the transformation, resulting in a relaxing getaway that feels custom-designed without the cost, mess, or lead time of a full gut renovation.
