I spent the majority of my early career as a fashion designer at Ralph Lauren, where every detail mattered — the feel of the fabric, the finish of a button, even the shade of the stitching.
It wasn’t vanity; it was quality and craftsmanship. Customers could feel it, even if they couldn’t name it.
But behind all that artistry was an incredible structure.
Ralph Lauren ran like a machine — clear calendars, defined processes, and systems that kept every department aligned. It was the most efficient company I’ve ever worked for.
That experience shaped how I work today.
(Here’s a photo of me from my Ralph Lauren days, and my co-worker Gaea, from about 15 years ago, just for fun!)
Before running Studio Seagraves, I built my own brand, Lasso Abode, which I manufactured and wholesaled for five years. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of what it really takes to run a business — inventory, cash flow, marketing, and eCommerce all at once.
Now, more than ten years into leading my agency, here’s what I’ve learned — and why my background is an asset to every client we work with:
A beautiful website isn’t enough.
It needs to work — efficiently, intuitively, and with systems that make growth sustainable.
Design and performance aren’t opposites.
Typography, hierarchy, and UX shape how a customer feels and how they buy.
Heritage and loyalty still win.
In a sea of AI-generated sameness, brands that lead with craftsmanship, story, and consistency stand out.
The best brands evolve without losing themselves.
Ralph Lauren is a perfect example — still quintessentially Ralph Lauren, yet experimenting with AI, resonating with Gen Z, and constantly finding new ways to express the same timeless vision. That balance of heritage and innovation is what keeps a brand alive.
The most profitable brands I see today blend creative direction, data, and operations into one clear experience — a brand system that sells.
That’s what we build every day at Studio Seagraves.
