Today is one that feels heavy with history. One echoing with every step taken by those before us. Equally, it is so alive with hope and possibility.
This morning, we took our daughters to experience democracy firsthand. To witness them as they took it all in, as they felt the weight and the privilege of standing up for their futures and the freedom of every woman... it was beyond words.
For us, today wasn’t just about casting a ballot; it was about making a promise to our children to fight for a world where they can live freely, love openly, and thrive without limits.
As a q***r family, we’re deeply aware that our journey here didn’t happen by chance. Our very existence rests on the shoulders of those who fought, sacrificed, and refused to back down so we could stand here together, as we are.
And this promise extends beyond our daughters to our sons as well. Though they weren’t with us today, they’re part of this mission. We are raising young men who understand their privilege. Who know that true strength means standing up for those without it. Who will one day lend their voices to fight for those who have been silenced. They will know that real power lies in protecting, respecting, and lifting others.
Today, our daughters are standing on our shoulders, and we’re telling them to keep climbing. Because one day, all of our children will lead from even higher ground. We will not let them inherit a world that goes backward, where freedoms are stripped away, where love and equality are stifled.
For every woman, for every LGBTQIA+ person, for every voice that’s been silenced, we are here to say: WE ARE NOT DONE FIGHTING!
And when it’s their turn, our children will know exactly how to carry this torch forward.
For them. For us. For all who come after...
