These are great days.
Churchill said it in the middle of a war, which tells you everything. Great days are not the ones without trouble. They are the ones you decide to notice.
I grew up on the North Shore of Long Island with my hands in the soil and my nose in old books, and I learned early that a life is mostly made of small things. A glass raised a little too late at night. A friend who makes you laugh louder than you should. A sunflower that turns its whole face toward the light without being asked.
Every piece in this collection starts that way. A line I couldn’t stop thinking about. An old illustration tucked between forgotten letters. Something worth keeping close, made to sit on a table and remind you, every single morning, of the people and the moments that make it all worthwhile.
So pour the good ch*****ne on a Tuesday. Pick your friends like flowers. And somewhere in the middle of an ordinary life, let it become a fairytale.
