Oof. I needed to hear this one.

In this trade, it’s easy to confuse exhaustion with achievement. I know the pull of being the hardest-working person in the room—the pride, the “I don’t know how you do it” comments. I’ve worn that badge, too.

But the truth is: those compliments fade. The wear and tear on your body, your mind, your relationships—that lingers. The real reward isn’t in proving you can push through. It’s in building something that lasts.

Stepping back doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you care enough to protect your energy for the long haul. Work-life balance isn’t easy in this industry—when everything feels urgent, hitting pause can feel impossible. Most of us only learn after hitting a wall. At least that seems to be how I learned. But the sooner you can discipline yourself to hit the pause button regularly, the stronger your business—and you—will be.

I still don’t get it right all the time. I’m sharing this as someone who has paid the high costs of ignoring this advice many a time. You’re not alone in this fight. But this I know, our well-being matters more than our workload. So try to ease up a wee once in a while please. 🧡 We’re not heart surgeons. 🧡

Gustave Caillebotte painted a view of Paris that was both entirely his own and radically modern.

In the "Floor Scrapers," you'll notice a subtle interplay between the light pouring in from the windows and the texture of the wooden floor. This is a hallmark of Caillebotte’s work, where the clarity of Realism meets the atmosphere of Impressionism.

The painting was Caillebotte’s first and only submission to the official Salon, where it was rejected. However, when he exhibited it at the second Impressionist exhibition in 1876, critics took notice, praising its bold composition and unconventional subject matter.
