For starters, I’ve been sewing for about 39 years – since I was a kid growing up in south Georgia. There, I learned the basics of sewing from Mom, and then I journeyed off to learn more about my craft on my own. I moved to northern Virginia during my college days where I met my wonderful husband of 20 years. After the birth of our first child, I began sewing, altering, and repairing costumes and c
lothing for all ages and it has been my passion for about the last 16 years. Along the way, I have also sewn and repaired purses and handbags, drapes, pillows, rugs, seat covers – almost anything you can imagine! I am currently the seamstress at a local military academy and in charge of maintaining all of the uniforms, flags, banners, and any other fabric item that requires my expertise. I am also the Costume Coordinator for the Drama department. For the local high school marching band and much to the chagrin of my son who is a member, I volunteer my services to alter, repair, and maintain their band uniforms. With an abundance of creative flair and undying enthusiasm, I still possess an acute attention to detail. Please peruse my items, and I hope you find something you like at Raemelia’s Corner!
