I’m considering renaming and rebranding Room Swap Consignments, Holly Hill SC.
I’ll be honest — I’ve never loved the name. But it came with a nice following when I bought it, and it works great for getting people to call and come in to consign or sell their stuff outright. That part isn’t going anywhere.
But my dream is bigger. I want to build a destination… yes, even in Holly Hill, South Carolina.
Lately I’ve started making some test purchases of small-batch goods — cast iron decor, handmade soaps, sourdough starter, and more. I think it would be incredible to blend that “general store” feel with the pre-owned furniture and home goods we already carry. Especially out here in small-town America, where the general store used to be the heart of the whole town.
My working name? Holly Hill Mercantile.
I picture it filled with goods that capture rural Southern life, coastal life, and lake life. Old-school candy, fresh baked goods, homemade treasures. A place you drive to on a Saturday just because.
Right now it’s still just a vision with a few trial orders landing this week. Making it real wouldn’t be easy — but man, would it be worth it. It’d give this whole area something it hasn’t had in decades.
So I want to hear from you: What would you want in a destination store in small-town America? And who are the local makers, bakers, and crafters I should know about?
