If you are an artisan that cares MORE about the aesthetic of your product than you do about the safety of your customer….bye ✌🏼

Time and time again I see crafters putting wax into upcycled vessels without making sure they are heat/fire safe. Candles get hot…because of a flame….which can cause the candle/vessel to explode.
That’s a safety hazard.

Not properly testing your vessel-to-wax-to- fragrance oil brand and load-to-wick combos/ratios….It’s not rocket science but there is a bit of chemistry that goes into candle making. If you’re looking for quick money…do not get into candles. ESPECIALLY if you aren’t testing them before you sell them. That’s a safety hazard.

Adding micas, botanicals and glitter to candles…anything that CAN catch on fire…most likely will. You will hear TONS of candle makers say “well it’s never happened to me”. Ok so you’re willing to risk the one off chance that it happens to someone you made and sold a candle to? Cool, cool. And then be shocked when it causes damage to your customer or friend/family member. That’s a safety hazard.

Selling candles, whether you test them or not without having insurance is RISKY. Does the state of Ohio require it? No. But some markets and vendor shows do. I carry insurance with my wax melts and wickless candles…God forbid anything happen that had nothing to do my me or my product and someone try to blame me or my product…what kind of mess that could create for my business. This is huge reason why I don’t make and sell candles (with a wick and flame) If you’re buying candles, please buy them from a responsible maker! 🙏
