Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃🦇

We’re back with another installment of our Elements of Design series! This time, we’re talking SHAPE + FORM.

Here’s the thing about our homes: they’re already FULL of rectangles.

Walls. Doors. Windows. Cabinetry. Rugs. Tables. You get the idea.

Which is exactly why thinking intentionally about shape can make such a difference.

Shape is the outline our eye sees, while form takes that shape into three dimensions. Mixing geometric and organic shapes gives your eye something new to notice and keeps a room from feeling too rigid or repetitive.

Take the breakfast nook and formal dining room in this home. Same basic function, but the shapes we chose give each space a very different feel.

In the breakfast nook, we brought in a round table and curved chairs to soften all those straight lines in the built-ins. Those curves also make it easier to move around the space, which is especially helpful in a spot that gets used every day.

In the formal dining room, we leaned into the rectangles. The stronger, more structured lines lend a touch more formality to the space. But we still brought in curves through the chandelier to soften things up and add a little contrast.

Same home. Same purpose. Different personalities.
And that’s what we love about shape and form. Sometimes a curve is there to make a room easier to navigate. Sometimes it’s there to balance a room full of straight lines. And sometimes those stronger, angular shapes are exactly what give a space the presence you’re after.

Some people see knots and irregular grain. We see a very good time.

Consider this our official love letter to burl wood: warm, wonderfully weird, and incapable of being boring.

For your consideration: green is a neutral, too. Earthy, easy to live with, and a whole lot more interesting than playing it safe.

10,000 pillows. And counting.

Our friend and breast cancer survivor Jen Willard founded an incredible nonprofit that creates heart-shaped pillows for breast cancer patients. The pillows attach to seatbelts to provide a little extra comfort during all those trips to appointments and treatment.

It’s a beautifully simple idea that has already reached more than 10,000 patients.

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re shining a light on Jen, her mission, and the very real difference a little comfort can make.

Help them reach the next 10,000!!

Our Fall Mood Board 🍂

Things currently taking up residence in our designer brains:
Chocolate brown. Oxblood. Olive. Tweed. Whimsy. Worn leather. Layered quilts. Aged brass. Equestrian details. Apples by the basketful. Beautiful tables. And rooms that make a rainy afternoon sound like a very good plan.

A little ranch.
A little English countryside.
A little old-school Ralph.
And plenty of texture.

Warm, collected, slightly moody - this is how we want our fall to feel.

Who are you designing for when the homeowner hasn’t moved in yet?

On an investment property, that’s part of the challenge.

It means finding the sweet spot: enough personality to make someone fall for the house, broad enough appeal to welcome different tastes, and plenty of thoughtful functionality so it works just as beautifully once the moving boxes arrive.
That’s where a great team comes in.

brought the real estate expertise and an invaluable understanding of the target buyer and market. We translated that into finishes, layouts, and functional details designed to make the home feel special, welcoming, and incredibly livable.

And tackled the exterior, making sure the first impression lived up to everything waiting inside.

Different areas of expertise. One very good-looking end result.

A few weeks ago, we were thrilled to sponsor a table at 's A Midsummer Night’s Dream Gala, and what a night!

Amazing people, great craft cocktails, yummy food, and dancing to boot.

But even better was getting to support an organization doing truly incredible work right here in our community. A Precious Child helps provide children and families in need across our local counties with the resources and opportunities kids need to thrive. We love the work they're doing, and we're so grateful to support them!

We were thrilled to be a part of them crushing their fundraising goals!
