Something you may not know about me: I love America.

Our rich history. The freedoms we enjoy. The endless possibilities that come with calling this country home. It is an honor to be decorating for The Sutton Fourth celebration this year... from Witness Houses along the parade route to our Bandstand at the Town Common and Artisans at Polly's. June 27th is going to be a special day in our little town!

Fun fact: The First Independence Day was celebrated long before the stars and stripes existed. The Continental Congress adopted the 1st official American Flag on June 14, 1777. Our current American flag has 13 alternating red and white stripes and a blue canton with 50 white stars. It is approximately 42% red, 41% white, and 17% blue.

One of the displays we're creating will feature 250 stars celebrating America's 250th Birthday. The display will honor the sponsors, organizers, participants, community members and businesses making the Sutton's festivities possible. And because I overthink almost everything, I matched the stars to the flag's colors: 105 red (42%), 103 white (41%), and 42 blue (17%).

I encourage you to think about the generations of families and neighbors who have come together to celebrate our nation's birthday year after year. It's a small tribute to the people who keep this tradition alive. We can't wait to celebrate with our community on June 27th!
