Yesterday’s haul a $10 Dyson Ball Animal 3 — getting parted out, because shipping a whole vacuum is a fool's errand. Parts alone should bring $130–210.
Rest of the load: sealed Statistics textbook ($5 in, ~$50–90 out), bareMinerals foundation ($5 in, ~$15–25 out), EltaMD sunscreen ($5 in, ~$20–25 out), R+Co shampoo ($5 in, ~$20–28 out), two AR-15 disassembly tools ($5 total in, ~$30–50 out), and a LegXercise Pro ($10 in, ~$50–70 out).
Lesson from the day: the $10 vacuum and the $5 textbook will probably out-earn everything else combined — the boring stuff pays.
Total spent: $45 / 8 items. Estimated resale on the table: ~$315–500. We'll report what sells.
And proof it works: a vintage Cook-O-Matic 11" frying pan with lid just sold today for $24.95 + $10 shipping.

106 days.

That's how long the Bernat Blanket yarn sat before it sold yesterday — $40.42, and the 2% ad cost us a whole 81 cents. Lesson stands: the listing you're sick of looking at is usually the one that pays.

Rest of the day: dentist chair survived, yard work finished for the week, and today's hunt is mapped — 90 sales within an hour of the house, whittled to a top-10 route.

**A hard lesson from our own living room.**

This one stings a little. The Logitech Harmony 700 we recently sold wasn't a thrift-store gamble this time. It was our personal remote, the one we used every day on our LG TV. An old faithful. It worked perfectly for us right up to the day it shipped.

But the buyer can't get it to operate for them and in sorting it out, we learned something we wish we'd known sooner.

Logitech quit making Harmony remotes in 2021, and in May 2025 they shut down support for many models. The software side of these remotes is living on borrowed time.

“It turns on and works" or even works on your gear is NOT a real test anymore. A Harmony can power up and run what's already loaded on it, ours did but if it won't **sync** with the MyHarmony app, it can never be reprogrammed for the next home's equipment.

There's no way to check the firmware on the remote itself so neither we nor the buyer could see this coming.

The oldest remotes (670, 720, 880, 1100 and similar) lost programming support entirely in May 2025. The 600, 650, and 700 use the newer MyHarmony software that’s still working for many folks, but crashes & sync-tests are needed before you list it.

A previously valuable item taught us a brand-new lesson. Going forward, we’ll probably skip them or every Harmony we sell will be sync-tested or sold as only works on whatever equipment it was last set up for not just powered on. Probably not going to get that history sourcing the way most of us do.

One sale & our house-hunting adventure really begins!

Yesterday was an exciting day! Only 1 sale but we started looking at homes for our next chapter.

After 26 years of military life, moving wherever the next duty station took us, we’re beginning to dream about something a little different. Instead of looking for a short-term investment type house & schools for the kids we may be ready to find a place to put down roots, make lasting memories, and truly call home.

It’s a little surreal to think about this next chapter , but also exciting to imagine what’s ahead. One sale down and a whole new adventure beginning!
