An update from me….

I had a baby girl 3 weeks ago. Her name is Charli and she’s perfect. And no, I haven’t stopped working. Is that crazy? Maybe. But I love what I do. And I work with kind, understanding individuals. Getting to support my favorite small businesses while snuggling my newborn is actually a dream.

I have the best support system getting us through the sleepless nights and healing process. I really couldn’t do any of this without my incredible husband and “village” taking care of me and my family.

We are learning new rhythms and moving at a slower pace. But it’s feeling really natural. It’s hard and wonderful all at the same time. And I’m so grateful for all of it.

🩷 Sending love to all the working mamas out there!

Xx,
Cat

Hey small business baddies,
I know you are out here hustling and worried of all the "what ifs" especially as we enter a busy time of year that could make or break business goals.

I want to leave you with a bit of encouragement. You already made it this far. You already built community.

What if this is the most successful holiday season you've had as a business owner?
What if things look different than you were expecting but this is the turning point that helps you gain clarity on where your business focus needs to be moving forward?
What if..... it all works out?

Here cheering you on! 😘

Skin & Tonic Face Bar is my favorite local, woman-owned small business to support when I need a little self care.

Cass does an amazing job at creating a space for self care and skincare to be prioritized. I got to book with her at the end of my pregnancy and it was just what I needed.

If you are looking to treat yourself this fall, I highly recommend Skin&Tonic! 🤍

A Personal Blog. A Poem. A Reminder.

As I await my second baby entering the world (just a few weeks out now), I feel my creativity has shifted into some other kind of exhausting productive energy. The to-do list is never ending and my nervous system says everything is a fire drill. I feel myself spiraling into chaos somedays and too exhausted to start anything the next.

Waves
of momentum,
of productivity,
and expectations,
picking up at full speed to
CRASH into a rocky shore
halting all motion without compunction.
And then back out to sea
gaining momentum
until another violent crash of waves and rock.

Why am I writing this?
Well... I think we all experience this at different times in our lives and careers. This cycle of wave pounding has the ability to erode us. But there is also something beautiful about learning to ebb and flow. To ride the wave. To slow down and speed up and slow down again. Maybe I'm losing you but all I'm trying to say is everyday can't be a race to the finish line. We gotta pace ourselves.

How are you pacing yourself? Are you giving yourself grace to complete the task list tomorrow? Are you finding outlets that gently remind you to take pause? If not, this is your reminder (and obviously mine too 😉).

Too often we are focusing on the big picture or the “ten year plan” or even the “one year plan” and we have a hard time getting from here to there because we haven’t made room or plans for the in between.

Business owners, marketing professionals, students, marathon runners (or whoever you are with a goal in mind) it’s important to prioritize the step right in front of you. You can’t jump and leap your way to the finish line. You got to set up your process and know how you are going to get there.

What do you need to do today to get you to tomorrow’s goal? And how is tomorrow’s goal getting you to your overarching goal?

The hardest part of my job? Not always being on-site with my clients.
I throw myself wholeheartedly into the businesses I work with. Your wins feel like my wins. Your hard days feel like mine too. If you're hosting an event, I want to be there. If business is slow, I want to be there. I genuinely want to be as involved as I can.

Real talk... I often find myself wondering if I'm taking on too much. Should I be more involved? Less involved? Am I giving everyone enough of my time? But the truth is, I work with small businesses. Small businesses have real budgets, real payrolls and real limitations. One of the things I love most about my work is making professional marketing accessible to local business owners and community organizations. That also means I have several clients instead of just one.

Some weeks one client gets more of my in person time than another. I used to feel guilty about that, but I've realized that's simply the nature of the work. My role isn't to be a full time employee. It's to become an extension of each team in the ways that matter most. Working with a smaller marketing budget means businesses can continue investing in their staff, themselves and the things that keep their doors open.

At the end of the day, I'm incredibly grateful to have a seat at so many different tables. I get to help tell the stories of businesses that make our communities special, and I don't take that for granted. 🤍

Just popping onto your feed to say HI 👋

I'm Cat. I have approximately 47 physical tabs open and my brain holds at least 150 open tabs at all time. I genuinely enjoy organizing marketing plans. And I think marketing should feel a more human and less copy/paste.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me chasing my kid around, ordering an appetizer (or three) at a local restaurant, or yapping with my girls. Thanks for being here. 😘

One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to watch big ideas become real places.

This summer, Remi's Cajun Creole Cafe opens its doors in Lafayette. Built by the incredible team behind East Simpson Coffee Company, Remi's is bringing the flavors, warmth and hospitality of New Orleans to our little corner of Colorado. As a Black owned business, Remi's is adding something truly special to our local community, and I couldn't be more excited to see it come to life.

Give a follow and keep an eye out for opening announcements in the coming weeks.
