Much of my free time centers around exploring, enjoying and sharing a good meal -- whether recreating familiar childhood flavors or gaining new insights through cuisine and travel. I also enjoy hiking, kayaking and exploring grand vistas and tranquil nooks in the great outdoors with my family and two chow chows. I hope you find my experiences ruminating on food as a reflection of friendship, culture, and conservation to be interesting and helpful.

Although they open at 10, All’Arco doesn’t get into full swing until 11 or so, and they were still rushing to make their famous cicchetti using ingredients fresh from the market! The lines get longer and shorter, and it’s so worth the wait. The shrimp in saor was our favorite bite of the whole trip. We got back in line to try the fried baby artichoke. Their version of cod puree was the best of three places.

Delicious grilled to order salmon and vegetable kabobs from Chicken Maison. Perfectly tender with a fantastic selection of sides (steamed veggies and spicy hummus).

Farmers’ market sun crisp (more sweet) and honey crisp (more tart) apples. Makes the most delicious stew when combined with a frozen honey baked ham bone and a mix of French green and red lentils, onion, sage & thyme. Love the contrast of cooked and crisp raw apples!
