“It’s just a laundry room.” Have you ever dismissed the idea of investing time and money into a working room like a laundry room, home gym, hobby room? If so, we understand. It’s hard to justify spending money on beautifying a room that no one sees but you. Good interior design isn’t about impressing others, however. It’s the science, art, and service of improving the lives of clients with well-considered spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful. In this narrow laundry room, joy and storage are maximized with built-in cabinetry, slim hanging areas for drying delicates, stone and tile that will hold up to splashes and sprays, and layered lighting that allows the user to treat and inspect stains on a shirt, or simply leave on a light that reflects the warm yellow paint and shines a happy glow through the window at the front of the house, welcoming the arrival of late-night guests after a long drive Up North.

We talk a lot about hospitality at Dana Grace Interiors. After all, interior design, at its most fundamental level, is an act of service. Not only do we strive to serve our clients with hospitality, but we must also consider hospitality as a function of each space we design. Will the materials we select hold up to their intended daily use? Does the room feel welcoming and comfortable? Does the space planning allow for optimal flow and comfort of its users?
