Spotted one of my pieces in it’s home recently. I made this last year for my cousin’s baby shower and saw it last weekend in her baby girl’s bedroom. Last year I slipped it into the cover of the book that I gifted her and didn’t tell her it was inside. And she just recently found it when she pulled out the book to read to Myla. She was definitely excited to find it and promptly set it up on the top of her bookcase. ❤️

I want to be in this space more so here I am trying 😅 I got out of rhythm so my hope is to start back slow and show back up consistently. I made this piece awhile ago but recently gifted it to a young lady as part of her high school graduation gift. She is doing big things with her life. She’s going to go off and play college basketball and will most likely excel in her classes too. She is young but faithfully seeks after the Lord and follows where He leads. I really wanted her to be reminded of how much goodness God has prepared for us and how much He has already shown up in her life will be small compared to what He’s going to keep doing. May we always remember He’s up to something GOOD.

I couldn’t turn down Mrs. Cristie when she asked if I would do some artwork for our church’s VBS this week! I made this cute sign that’s being used at the volunteer snack spot and also decorated the front doors. The theme for this year’s vacation Bible school is “Magnified” to encourage kids to proclaim God’s greatness and see how much God is involved in every detail of their life and that they are important and valuable to Him. There were so many other awesome decorations and I only took a few pictures of them, but they will create an amazing experience for the kids who attend. ❤️

Corey and I love this vintage wallpaper in our kitchen but didn’t like this spot where a piece had been torn off the wall. I’d been trying to figure out how to address it because we don’t want to tear all the wallpaper down and been stumped on what to do. Last week when my parents were in town I was talking to my mom about some little projects I’m hoping to do in the kitchen soon and I brought up this spot on the wall. She said, “Why don’t you paint something? Of all the people I know you can actually do that.” Now I’m just upset I didn’t come up with idea on my own! 😑😂 We love it!

It’s been awhile since I posted. 20 months 😳 which is a long time for social media. The odd thing is I keep getting notifications of people viewing and liking my posts every once in awhile. A lot has happened since my last post in March of 2023. My last name is no longer Lane, you can’t reach me at my Letters by Lane email address anymore (Gmail is weird you guys), and my art has changed a bit as well. The last signs I made were for my wedding last year, which was a great joy to finally make signs for my own celebration and not just for others (I’ll probably post those soon). I’m doing more drawing and watercolors and have plans for a small mural in our house that I’ll work on in the next month or so. I still letter and doodle all the time but I needed to have a time of focusing on my new family instead of getting my art out there. I went from single dog mom to married with three stepdaughters, two dogs, and a cat in a new to me house that now feels like home. So lots of changes and thankfully most of them have been good changes. The art I’m posting and sharing today is actually a 5x7 piece I made for my husband for part of the anniversary gift I gave him on our recent one year wedding anniversary. He loves JRR Tolkien and this quote reminds me of him. He’s not always big and flashy and he reminds us of his love in all the many small things he does for us. ❤️ Hopefully you’ll see more here soon and thanks for sticking with me.

Welcome to Letters By Lane
Letters By Lane is a small business owned and operated by Laura Lane.
I’ve always had a love for words and letters, which began in elementary school when I was sent to the principal’s office for writing on a wall in the hallway. Thankfully I just received a talk about how “walls aren’t meant to be written on . . . and my parents wouldn’t be contacted,” but I would still need to go erase the spot on the wall where I had left my mark in pencil. Almost every single one of my classroom notebooks had doodles and drawings in the margins and to this day some of my favorite classes in high school were Art classes with Ms. Terveen or Mr. White along with all of my Social Studies classes. In college I chose the practical route of teaching social studies because after all who really makes money creating art?!
Over the last few years I’ve enjoyed creating MANY special lettering pieces on wood, canvas, and paper for friends and family and have recently decided to officially launch my own business. I expect there to be failures along the way but I am more excited about the successes, and the joy it brings when I see how excited others are when they see their finished piece.
Thanks for stopping by my business page where I consider it an honor to create something special just for you!
