We’ve been a little quieter than usual lately… and for the sweetest reason. 🤍

Our family recently welcomed our newest little love, Bailey Carol Ann, and we’ve been soaking in all the newborn snuggles while adjusting to life as a family of five. 🥹🍼

While we’ve stepped back a bit behind the scenes, Custom Rooted Engraving hasn’t stopped — and that is entirely thanks to our incredible team.

A HUGE thank you to Maggie, Sunny, Veronica, and Griffin for keeping production moving, showing up for our events, packing orders, and holding things down while we settle into this new chapter. We truly couldn’t do this without you. ❤️

As we adjust to newborn life, you may notice slightly longer turnaround times and slower communication than usual. We’re still here, orders are still being made, and shows are still happening — we’re just giving ourselves a little extra grace (and operating on a little less sleep 😅) for the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our little family business. Every order, visit at a show, share, and kind message means more than you know.

For now, we’re soaking up these moments because we know just how quickly they pass. 🤍

Behind every small business is a story. This is ours ❤️

We’re Lu and Ian, the husband-and-wife team behind Custom Rooted Engraving.

What started in 2022 as a way to honor Ian’s late mother has grown into something we never imagined—a family business built around creating meaningful keepsakes and helping others celebrate their adventures.

If you’ve ever stopped by our booth, you’ve probably noticed we have a slight obsession with travel maps. That’s because we’re road trip people. Weekend camping trips, national parks, spontaneous adventures, and making memories together have always been our favorite way to spend time as a family. Our travel maps were born from that love of exploring and documenting the places we’ve been.

When we’re not engraving, we’re busy raising two amazing kids and eagerly awaiting the arrival of our third little adventure this summer. Our oldest keeps us on our toes, and our youngest is a wonderfully neurospicy kiddo who reminds us every day that there’s more than one way to experience the world—and that’s a beautiful thing.

Custom Rooted Engraving isn’t a big corporation. It’s just us, our family, a lot of coffee, late nights, market weekends, and a dream we’re grateful to share with all of you.

Every order, every market visit, every like, comment, and share helps support our family and allows us to keep doing what we love.

4 years ago I burned my first cutting board… and let’s just say it did not look like this 😅

Now?
Whether I’m using a $30,000 engraver or my $150 machine… the results speak for themselves.

Because here’s the truth most people don’t realize:
👉 Getting a deep, rich, consistent dark engraving on cutting boards is HARD.
Every board reacts differently.
Every setting matters.
And it takes years of trial, error, and ruined blanks to get it right.
