Im back to stoneware after a long break. Had a successful bisque firing in my new studio at the farm last night. We even lost power for about 20 seconds, twice. It was the 1st firing with this kiln that I picked up at a yard sale about 3 years ago. She did great after her rest! These are also the 1st pots I made on the wheel that I picked up at that same yard sale. What a deal I found that day! I just happened to notice a small cardboard sign propped up in the corner "kiln for sale." It was still buried under a bunch of stuff in the storage shed. After digging it out I also found the wheel and made a package deal. Luckily my husband was able to come immediately to transport it all. Although I would've waited there all day. LoL Things are shaping up around here.

Damp boxes are something that makes so much sense. I'm not sure why I never had them in my studio before! The belief among potters has always been that "plaster is bad, so keep it away from your clay." (Things will explore in the kiln.) For years I've been babysitting pots/clay items while they dry under plastic. Which is hard when you're not always there, so I decided too give this a try. I put a little plaster in these boxes, let it set up overnight. I added my pots & they waited patiently in the boxes for 7 days. That worked great! They are an even better consistency than when they went in! Such a small thing that only took a little time to make & will make my projects wait for me when they need to.

I'm getting back to mid range stoneware and trying some different things. (Carving, underglazes, textures.) Some make it, some don't...but these are pretty cute from the latest batch!
**I really love that lotus blossom rolling pin texture with the Celadon glaze. ❤️
