Finally made it inside the new speakeasy at Grand Gardner Hotel and...damn, Valpo. 👏

The historic building is beautiful, but it’s the details for me. Clever references to its past, layered materials, moody lighting, and plenty to discover as you move through the space.

This is exactly why I care so much about design that creates an experience, not just a pretty room.

Already plotting my return.

Every great design begins by listening to the place.

For this Lake Michigan renovation, the view is leading every decision. The architecture frames the shoreline. The materials echo the dunes, trees, and water beyond the glass. Nothing is chosen in isolation because every finish should feel like it belongs here.

This is the first layer of our creative direction. The architectural finishes establish the foundation, creating a palette that’s connected to the landscape rather than competing with it.

Next, we’ll begin introducing personality through carefully selected tile, expressive wallpaper, and moments of unexpected color. The final layer is styling, where furnishings, art, and collected objects complete the story.

The best homes aren’t designed all at once. They evolve, layer by layer, until the architecture, interiors, and landscape feel inseparable.

This is where the journey begins.

If you were standing in this room, what would you preserve first: the view, the light, or the connection to the landscape?

The goal wasn’t a bigger kitchen.

It was a better one.

For The Tulip Project, we reworked the layout to create a kitchen that functions as the true hub of the home. Better flow. Better storage. Better connection to the surrounding spaces.

Now the kitchen isn’t just where meals happen.

It’s where life happens.

Modern Heirloom Aesthetic

Not every home should look the same.

And not every homeowner wants the same thing.

Some people want a house that blends in.
Others want a home that tells a story.

A home layered with art, color, texture, collected pieces, and unexpected moments.

A home that feels personal.

That’s what we create.

Whether it’s a primary residence, a lake house, or a weekend retreat, our goal is never to follow a formula. It’s to uncover what makes a home distinctly yours.

Because the spaces people remember aren’t usually the safest ones.

They’re the ones with personality.
The ones with a point of view.
The ones that couldn’t belong to anyone else.

The Purple House is our own home and our latest project showcase. A collection of bold choices, meaningful pieces, and moments that make us smile every time we walk through the door.

That’s the power of designing a home around who you are, not what’s trending.

Design is personal.

Not everyone wants bold color.
Not everyone wants pattern.
Not everyone wants a home that sparks conversation the moment you walk through the door.

And that’s okay.

We aren’t trying to be the right designer for everyone.

We’re here for the people who want their home to feel unmistakably theirs.

The people who are tired of playing it safe.

The people who know that memorable spaces aren’t created by following every trend on the internet.

The Purple House is proof that when you stop worrying about what everyone else thinks, the magic happens.

One thing we’ve noticed about our best vacation home clients?
They understand the value of stepping away.

Not just from work.
From noise. From routine. From constant obligation.

Because when life slows down a little, you notice more. You gather more. You reconnect more.

Ironically, that same reset is what fuels creativity for us, too.

The best ideas for layered, experience-driven homes rarely come from burnout mode. They come from traveling, observing, lingering over dinner longer than planned, noticing how a boutique hotel feels at sunset, or why one space instantly makes you exhale.

That’s the kind of feeling we’re always chasing in our projects.

Not just a beautiful house.
A place that changes the way you live while you’re there.

Last week wasn’t just about business strategy.
It was about self trust.

About sitting in rooms with people doing big things and realizing maybe the difference between where you are and where you want to be is not talent. It’s confidence. Consistency. Willingness to keep showing up before you feel fully “ready.”

Every time we invest in growth, we come back sharper for our clients. Better leadership. Better vision. Better ex*****on.

And honestly?
Building a creative business sometimes means constantly learning how to trust your own eye before the world catches up to it.

Chicago gave me a lot to think about.
Mostly that I’m done playing small.

Designing for a 180° Lake Michigan view isn’t about adding more.
It’s about layering just enough to let the experience lead.

For The Lakeshore project, we reimagined the great room as a calm, collected backdrop. Warm woods, soft texture, and sculptural lighting work quietly so the view does what it’s meant to do.

Serene. Intentional. Designed to be lived in.

If your space has a view worth framing, we’ll make sure it feels just as good as it looks.
Ask us about creating a layered, serene setting that elevates how you live with it.
