There are scammers targeting people selling items on Facebook.
Here’s how the scam usually works:
Someone messages you wanting to buy your item and says they want to pay through Cash App. Then they claim the payment “won’t go through” unless you give them your email address. After that, you receive a fake email saying you must send extra money to “upgrade” your account to a business account.
THIS IS A SCAM.
Cash App does NOT require buyers to send extra money to upgrade your account, and you do NOT need to give out your email address in order to receive a payment.
Please be careful and do not send money to anyone claiming they need to “verify” or “upgrade” your account.
I’m posting this in hopes that it helps someone avoid being scammed.
