I am terrible at social media. This isn’t news, but it is something I’m coming to accept about myself. There have been times where I’ve filmed and posted everything going on in my studio, but it’s meant that I haven’t really been able to focus on my art. Then there are times where I dive headfirst into the creative progress and don’t post at all. That’s been 2025. I’ve been experimenting like crazy in the studio and haven’t really shared any of it with all of you. I just finished processing over 500 photos of new work - some already sold at shows and some just posted in my online shop today - and I’m excited to share them, but I realize that I didn’t let anyone in on the amazing discoveries, successes and failures along the way. I hope to get better at balance - sharing videos of the journey and not just the destination, because the former is much more fun. Realistically, the to-do list is already so long, I’ve no idea how I’m going to find that balance, but I’ll keep trying. Anyway, this vessel is a favorite of mine. It’s inspired by the ancient pots of Tiuanaku in Bolivia and was made via hours of slow coiling and pinching. Its surface is a mixture of wild clay slip, volcanic ash, and spots of a glaze made from wild clay and ash, sanded post firing to within an inch of its life for a luscious tactility. Coiling is fast becoming my preferred making method, and I can’t wait to spend these dark winter months doing more of it.
