Three years ago today, I started building something of my own. 🤍 Today was a little bit of everything I hoped this business would become. Here’s how I spent it. ✨

An awkward soffited nook in this lower level left much to be desired. Rather than work around it, we put it to work.

Built-ins flank a simple work surface, turning what was once unused space into a hardworking little spot with more than one purpose. And a little extra storage? Who’s complaining? ✨

What’s been keeping me busy lately… 🤍

There’s no place better than a sun-drenched room 🤍

Grandma chic for the best of friends. 🤎 She’s always been ahead of her time, enjoying all the “grandma” hobbies long before they were cool. So naturally, we brought a little of that same charm into a space her family uses every day.

An existing hand-loomed rug, beautiful original built-ins, and trim work worth keeping gave us our starting point at . A little paint and a fresh perspective were all they needed to feel new again.

Sometimes simply working with what you have is better than starting over. ✨

So thankful to be in the Top 5 for the Cedar Valley’s Best of the Best. Every year, the nomination catches me by surprise, and it’s never something I’ll take for granted.

One of the greatest privileges of this job is walking alongside so many of you through life’s changing seasons, creating homes that grow and evolve right along with you. In return, you’ve continued to show up for me, my family, and this dream in ways I’ll never be able to fully express.

If you’d like to support AK Design Studio once again, I’d be so grateful for your vote once daily through August 2nd. Thank you for being here. 🤍

Every project starts here. There are floor plans, elevations, and hundreds of design decisions behind each of these materials, but there’s something about zooming out and making sure each room relates to the next.

Ultimately, my goal is to seamlessly blend the old and the new. The best projects leave you wondering what was there all along. ✨

Designed to work hard for everyday routines, while creating moments of calm in the midst of them. ✨

Clients with great art 🙌🏼

This young family has collected pieces throughout their travels and seasons of life, and their walls tell a story because of it.

A good reminder that the most meaningful decor is the kind that’s personal to you 🤍
