With a little leftover paint from my previous 16 x 20, I decided to practice clouds and depth, with really no idea where I was going. When I finished the sky, I remembered someone asked me to do a seascape for them, and this is the result. I'm awful with coming up with ideas for a painting, but I'm very happy with this one.

Feel free to visit my website at www.cypressbrushstudio.com and view the gallery to see other paintings created in the wet-on-wet style of oil painting.

Definitely a little different, 16 x 20. Another online painting and a hint from an old friend inspired the painting. I used a technique I remembered from Bob Ross's painting Campfire.

Oil is very forgiving. I was ready to trash the painting on the right, but instead I grabbed a palette knife,
scraped off all the paint, and started again. The painting on the left is the result. I made a conscious effort to think about highlights brought on by the moon, as indicated by the mountains, rocks, and trees. Once again, oil is very forgiving.

I always refer to my landscapes as a mountain, forest, or seascape scene. This morning, I decided to combine a more traditional forest scene with a mountain scene.

A 16 x 20 mountain landscape before the Braves. It's a simple painting, but the colors I chose made the difference in my opinion. If you like a particular painting you have painted, paint it again, but use different colors for a different flavor.

A little bit of everything in this 16 x 20 landscape.

A lot of the time, I start a 16 x 20 with no idea where I want the landscape to go. This is one of those pieces where it just evolved after I painted the most distant mountain. After looking at it, I wish I had added more colors to the sky, but I also believe you should never be satisfied, as it will motivate you to do another painting. It's always practice.

I've completed a very similar 16 x 20 forest scene in the past and had intended to replicate the painting, but for me, that's practically impossible. I decided to use a yellow haze instead of blue. When it was time for a creek, I opted for a path instead. No two paintings are identical.

Feel free to visit my website at www.cypressbrushstudio.com for upcoming classes if you're interested in the wet-on-wet style and to visit the gallery.
