A beautiful vanity and a beautiful reminder of learning along the way. 🤍

This project was completed through JP3 Kitchen & Bath, but it’s a perfect example of how my work at JP3 continues to shape the designer I’m becoming through MKID.

From developing the concept and selections to bringing everything together visually, experiences like this continue to give me the opportunity to learn, problem-solve, and grow my design eye in real homes with real clients.

I’m incredibly grateful for the experience I continue to gain at JP3 Kitchen & Bath, and even more excited to bring those lessons and experiences into the work I’m building through MKID.

Unpopular opinion: we’re not fans of banquette-style islands👀

If you have the space for an island this large, we’d much rather see two separate islands, It creates better flow, more function, and gives the kitchen a more intentional, balanced feel.

At the end of the day, design is personal - but this is one trend we’d skip.

Last night I was sitting on the couch with my family, working through new client paperwork and business cards.
I showed the business card to my family, proud of how they turned out. My sister looked at it, and said: “So what’s ‘M-kid’ mean anyway?” 😅
Mind you… this name has been floating around my house for months! That single question immediately spiraled into a full family debate on the couch, with everyone trying to convince me I needed to hyphenate the name or adjust the logo to make it clearer.
My answer? I love my clean, classic logo far too much to change it, so instead, I’m turning this into a learning lesson!
It’s not "M-kid"… it’s M-K-I-D (Studio on the end, because the alternative wasn’t available), spelled out letter by letter for Mikayla Klaas Interior Design!
At the end of the day, I don’t truly mind whether you say "M-kid" or spell it out, the goal remains the same: creating warm, classic spaces made for family, hospitality, and homes you never want to leave.
