Five years of Macramade By Kelc 😭✨

I remember the day I picked up some cord from the craft on a whim. I was having a hard time finding things to do while stuck inside when COVID was rampant. Eventually I learned I loved keeping houseplants. I saw macrame in stores but it was all mass produced and half of them were broken. I thought… how hard could it be? And… it WAS hard! I tried learning by online patterns but it didn’t click for me…so I became self taught & learned the knots. I learned how they build on each other. Experimenting. Failure. Success. Failure again. With each hard thing I ran into, I found ways around it.

This was the first time in my life I found a craft that I didn’t mind being bad at. I tried many things before, but this felt different. Macramé was something that was just meant to pass the time, but I really just found a way to express myself in a way that I had been yearning to find. This journey has taught me things I am so grateful for, I have learned so much about myself, and it’s so exciting to know there’s SO much art that I will make.

Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey, purchased art, hosted me for a market, and supported me in any way. The last 5 years have been the best of my life. I have vended at 50+ markets, made hundreds of art pieces, earned a ribbon at the state fair, and had my artwork displayed at a city hall & an art gallery! I have made so many lifelong friends as well. If 23 year old me could see herself now… she wouldn’t believe it. I am rich in ways money cannot replace…because of some yarn 🤍🧶✨
