2025 has brought many opportunities for growth and advancement. At the beginning of the year, I enrolled with Purdue University to obtain a bachelors degree in Organizational Management with an Emphasis in Construction Management. This degree will not only help me professionally but will help my clients as well with the knowledge I will obtain.
Part of the process was figuring out how I would pay for this education. I came across online, an organization dedicated to helping women in their secondary education and applied for the largest scholarship I had found available to adults reentering the collegiate world. I decided to give it a shot and applied.
Not too long later, I was contacted for an interview and was nominated by our local chapter to be the regions selection for national awarding. The region graciously approved of my nomination and selectees me as their pick for the national scholarship. This scholarship is usually shared amongst a few women as we are all so deserving. A few days ago I received notice that not only was I being awarded this scholarship but was being awarded the full thing, an honor I didn’t understand the magnitude of until my chapter representative told me she has never seen a full awarding before.
I am honored to be recognized by this beautiful organization and their commitment to women and their education. Being a woman in the construction world is very isolating and I often feel as if I’m constantly having to prove I belong here. Receiving this recognition has given me an unimaginable amount of validation and was a boost for my confidence. Thank you to all the women who supported me through this process!
