Linn started building the LP12 in Glasgow in 1972 and never stopped. Fifty four years later it's still the same deck, except the bearing, subchassis, power supply, arm and cartridge can each be swapped for a better one without replacing the rest of it. People buy one in their twenties and are still upgrading the same table thirty years later.

It also has to be set up by hand. The suspension gets tuned by feel, and it gets tuned again as the deck and the room change, so no two are really in the same state.
