Frank Gehry was a defining figure of contemporary architecture, celebrated for his ability to transform cold industrial materials like chain-link fencing, corrugated metal, and titanium into fluid, organic forms. Rejecting the rigid geometry of Modernism, he pioneered a Deconstructivist style characterized by fragmented, undulating shapes that often resembled crumpled paper or billowing sails. His work life was marked by a fearless embrace of technology; he was among the first to utilize aerospace software (CATIA) to calculate and construct his complex, sculptural designs. His portfolio includes some of the most recognizable structures in the world, most notably the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Born in Toronto in 1929, Gehry moved to Los Angeles as a teenager, where he would eventually become an icon of the city's creative scene. Despite his "starchitect" status, he maintained a collaborative spirit, often working closely with artists and remaining active in his practice well into his 90s.
