Hi friends! We are currently in vacation mode on our Etsy shop as we have accepted seasonal jobs living and working in Antarctica until February 2023 and have no way to keep the store running while we are gone. Thank you so much for the support of our small business for the past several months and for supporting our nomadic lifestyle. We look forward to bringing new ideas and products to the store next time we open 🙂. Until then, happy adventuring to you all! 🐧❄️⛺️

Nothing better than crisp fall nights with a fire in the wood burning stove, a warm meal and great company. Thankful to have met Erica and Freddy when we moved to the area. They are wonderful people that live on a beautiful farm down the road that was established in 1746 and is one of the oldest in Loudoun County. We are going to miss them when we move in a few weeks!

It’s that time of year we all love where the nights are cool and you snuggle up next to a fire with a blanket and good company. 🍁🍂🔥✨

Check out our Fireside scented candles in our Etsy shop. This scent melds notes of smoke and wood into a warm union of clove, amber, sandalwood, and patchouli and really fills up a room. Burn time is 50 hours on these slow burning soy candles.

Everyone, meet Willow. Willow is a regular around the local area and loves being on the . Not only has she hiked about 1000 miles on the AT, but she carries her own sleeping pad and pack with her food. Whenever she stops by the cabin with her owner Jeff to refill on water she loves to find a shady spot in the flower beds to cool off. We took this picture last weekend when she stopped by for a visit and some treats of course 🐶🐾

Hi friends! We’ve been quiet lately as we haven’t been making any new inventory due to a BIG move coming up at the end of October. Spaghetti nights 🍝 on the porch with a table full of hikers are our favorite nights. Every night the past week we had several south-bounders stopping by the cabin to sleep on the porch before continuing south to Georgia.

Cloudy mornings and visits over coffee with whom we met in New Mexico last year while . It never gets old to see a familiar face walk up to the cabin. It’s a unique feeling similar to going home even if it’s just temporary before they continue they trek onwards. Thankful for these connections and the opportunity to see a familiar face again. Happy trails friend!

Another bookend set is scheduled to ship out today! We love how these bookends remind us of the “green tunnel” we live on. The “green tunnel” is a hikers reference to the and walking through the forest from Georgia to Maine.

Looking for a great baby gift or nursery room décor? These themed bookends are a hit with mommas-to-be and were added to a baby registry and then purchased as a gift by our customer. Always happy to ship another set out and to get such positive feedback on our design and craftsmanship. We couldn’t do this without the love and support from our customers!

Now to get busy making another woodland creature set to backfill the order. In the meantime we have sets ready to ship where you can add on a charm.

The candle is resting on one of our hand cut candle coasters from hickory hard wood trees on our property in the Appalachian mountains. You can purchase one of these coasters as an add on in our Etsy shop (limited stock). The candle fills her whole living room and it’s the first thing your smell when walking in her front door. We love customer feedback like this!

New listing up on our Etsy page! 🏔🪵

These mountain top bookends have been a huge hit and we can’t make enough to support the demand. Mainly because it takes over 24 hours of processing time from picking out the wood at the wood mill to the final coat of protectant spray. It’s a tedious process, but the outcome is beautiful and really dresses up a shelf space.

Yesterday we were sitting on the porch having lunch when a solo hiker walked down from the trail and we immediately shouted, “Hey, we know you!” This is Catwater and she is an avid cross-country hiker with a home base in Alaska. Lane first met Catwater hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2015. Flash forward to the AT Flip Flop Festival this year in April and Lane and Catwater cross paths again. She was starting her 2,190 mile trek of the the next day - After catching up we said our goodbyes and invited her to come stay at the Blackburn Trail Center on her trek south to Georgia, and yesterday that day finally came!

We had such a great time sharing stories from our experiences on different trails, who we’ve met along the way and just good hearted life chats. After a big spaghetti feast on the porch we said our goodbyes once again, hugged, and said “see you down the trail”. Encounters like this are so special. Running in to someone you met years ago hiking a trail is like seeing a long lost friend. It’s so raw and genuine and there just isn’t anything else quite like it. Feeling very thankful for this life and the special people you meet along the way. ✨💫🌈✌🏻

We love the story behind the reclaimed hardwood coasters we sell on our Etsy page. 🪚🪵🥃

We first came across this down wood when we first moved into our cabin as caretakers on the and knew there was something very special about it. The wood comes from the hardwood trees seen all throughout the property which is a mix between hickory and maple 🌳🍁.

Lane got to work right away by hand cutting each piece equal width and then protecting them with finishing spray to prevent water damage. To keep the natural look and prevent slipping on your tables we have added cork adhesive to the bottom of each coaster.

These coasters are very sturdy and a set of four weighs just shy of a pound. We have a limited supply of these coasters and only a few full sets remain. These make a great gift for someone that loves the rustic cabin feel in their home or for that special man in your life that loves a good pour of whiskey every now and again.

Rainy days at the cabin call for indoor activities and restocking our candle supply! Our Oakmoss & Amber candle has been a huge hit and begins with hints of orange, grapefruit, and an infusion of sage that enhance the natural earthy quality. Lavender adds a soft floral and herbal touch to the heart of this scent, while oakmoss, amber, and tonka round out the base for a beautiful, deep character.
