Beef Siomai

Ingredients:

•500 grams Ground Beef
•1 cup Grated Carrots
•½ cup Chopped Mushroom
•1 cup Minced Onion
•2 tablespoon Grated Garlic
•3 tablespoon Oyster Sauce
•1 ½ tablespoon Sesame Oil
•1 teaspoon Salt
•1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
•½ teaspoon Black Pepper
•1 tablespoon Cornstarch
•1 piece Egg
•25 pieces Dumpling Wrapper
•Spring Onion, optional

Procedures:

1. In a large bowl, add the ground beef and the rest of the ingredients. Mix and set aside.
2. Add 2 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of ground beef mixture into the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edge of the wrapper with water.
3. By using your thumb and index/middle finger, cup them around the filling and press them lightly. Make sure the top portion remains open. Repeat the same process with the rest of the siomai mixture.
4. Boil water in a pot. Place the steamer tray or bamboo steamer into the pot. Brush the steamer with oil before adding the siomai.
5. Steam for 15 minutes in very low heat. Once it looks cooked, remove them from the steamer tray. Serve with chili garlic sauce. Chao!

Chicken Siomai

Ingredients:

•2 lbs Ground Chicken
•¾ cup Minced Shrimp
•¼ cup Sesame Oil
•2 tablespoons Olive Oil
•1 cup Minced White Mushroom
•2 teaspoons Chicken Powder
•1 large Yellow Onion, minced
•1 cup Minced Carrots
•½ teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
•1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
•2 teaspoons Salt
•1 egg
•1pack Wonton Wrapper

Procedures:

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, shrimp, mushroom, carrots, onion, chicken powder, ground black pepper, garlic powder, salt, sesame oil, and egg. Mix well using a spatula.
2. Lay a piece of wonton wrapper in a plate. Scoop about a tablespoon of mixture and place it in the center of the wrapper. Wrap the mixture by folding the sides until the meat mixture is enclosed. Do this step until the mixture is consumed.
3. Pour water in a steamer. Bring it to a boil.
4. Meanwhile, arrange the chicken siomai in the steamer. Make sure that you grease the steamer using a cooking spray or by rubbing with cooking oil. This will prevent the wrapper from sticking.
5. Steam the chicken siomai for 15-25 minutes. The time will depend on the size of the siomai.
6. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and chili. Share and enjoy! Chao!

Embutido Recipe

Ingredients:

•1 ½ kilo Ground Pork
•1 large Yellow Onion, minced
•1 large Red Bell Pepper, minced
•1 large Carrot, minced
•¾ cup Sweet Pickle Relish
•3 ounce Raisins
•1 ½ cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
•3 Eggs
•¼ teaspoon Ground Black Pepper*
•1 teaspoon Salt*
•2 cups Breadcrumbs

Procedures:

1. Combine ground pork, onion, red bell pepper, carrot, sweet relish, raisins, cheese, eggs, salt, and ground black pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are blended.
2. Add the breadcrumbs and continue to mix until well blended.
3. Scoop a cup of embutido mixture and place over a sheet of pre-cut aluminum foil (12 x 10 inches). Mold the mixture to form a cylindrical shape. Roll the foil and secure both edges. Set aside.
4. Arrange the wrapped embutido in a steamer with water and let boil. Steam over medium heat for 60 minutes. Remove the steamed pork embutido from the steamer. Let it cool down and chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
5. Slice and arrange in a serving plate. You can also fry it if desired. Chao!
