Survived the holidays. Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas with their family and friends.

I completed a project as a gift for a friend’s daughter. Her daughter is pregnant and is due in February. I created the piece with COE 90 glass powder, layering mix and a piece of petal pink Bullseye glass. Silicone candy molds work great for creating shapes.

I was pleased with how the piece turned out. My friend loved it and was sure her daughter would love.

Been a long time since I posted. This year turned into a firestorm of change for me. By March, I had to return to the office for work so the final three months of my career I was driving 80 miles a day. I could not run out the door fast enough at end of June. Yes, I retired after almost 38 years with the IRS on June 28th and I have not looked back.

The first thing to go was the alarm - that was a happy change. I still take every day on a day by day basis. I have managed to plan my vacations for 2026. Still working on the exercise thing. But, I have slowly started back working in my glass studio.

My younger daughter makes tallow soap and asked for some soap dishes to sell with the soap. So, I have been busy making a dozen soap dishes in an array of colors to test out. It was a nice simple project to get started back with my glass. I could not get any glass done the first half of the year due to the stress.

I can finally post my latest completed project. I had this thought to create a cat-themed wall piece for my friend. I used glass powders with layering mix to create the cats and letters in a mold along with some noodle pieces. All of the pieces were tack fused on to a single layer of white glass then put in a frame. I was very happy with the final product and my friend was very happy. A fun project to do.

Dug out a piece I made several years ago. A corner got broken off while I was moving. I tucked it away. Finally decided to get it out to try to repair it. After a long, slow tack fuse, the piece is in one piece again. There is still a faint line where the break line was but still happy with the outcome.

It has been too long since I posted. But, changing jobs at work aka moved to a completely different division has kept me busy. So, I have not gotten a lot of time in the studio or it has come in little bits at a time.

I have mainly been creating components using layering mix, glass powder and silicone molds. Just got my latest batch out of the kiln.
