Training for the most critical moments, before they happen.

BHDP partnered with UC Health, the United States Air Force, and Danis to transform a 40-year-old building into the DARRIO Simulation Center, a state-of-the-art facility for the U.S. Air Force Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT). The reimagined space replicates the spatial and operational conditions of a C-130 aircraft, providing CCATT teams with a realistic environment for in-flight critical care training.

Dedicated research spaces also allow the U.S. Air Force to evaluate emerging technologies and care strategies, advancing innovation that improves outcomes in the field.

Gameday environments are built for intensity, but what happens when that intensity works against the people inside them?

For neurodiverse athletes, staff, and fans, sensory overload isn't just uncomfortable. It disrupts focus, slows recovery, and affects performance—long before it shows up in results.

In Justin Kaden's latest blog, he explores how neuroinclusive design principles, from sensory refuge spaces to zoned training environments, create athletic facilities that support everyone, on gameday and every day.

BHDP collaborated with Safelite to bring this $19.2M headquarters renovation to life, reinvesting in an existing campus and delivering a workplace designed around connection, culture, and the future of hybrid work.

The redesigned headquarters supports more than 350 employees with a signature 90-foot skybridge unifying two buildings, a hospitality-inspired amenity level, and flexible work settings that go far beyond the traditional office experience.

“As Safelite returns to the office post-pandemic, we wanted to prioritize fostering connection not only between the two buildings but between people by creating spaces that encourage interaction and cultivate belonging and community,” said Shannon Ryan, Senior Interior Designer.

Special thanks to our design and construction partner, Turner Construction Company.

Galen College of Nursing's new Denver Campus was designed to expand access to nursing education in a space that’s as functional as it is inspiring.

The facility includes a simulation center, skills lab, classrooms, study spaces, and a community room, all built to support the next generation of healthcare leaders. Varied seating, uplifting artwork, and a bright, welcoming lobby create an environment that encourages students to visualize their potential from day one.

The result is a campus that elevates the student journey from education into practice, giving future nurses the modern, collaborative home they deserve.

In honor of National Hospital Week, we recognize the environments that make care possible, and the design strategies that help them perform at their best.

Healthcare and research facilities are often viewed as separate worlds. One focuses on healing, the other on discovery. But when you look more closely, both are driven by the same core purpose: ensuring better outcomes for patients and the people delivering care.

In Mindy Graves’ latest blog, she explores how healthcare and research spaces align more than they differ—and why a performance-based approach is key to designing for what’s next.
